CONEJO MOUNTAIN : Hikers Discover Remains of Man
- Share via
The remains of a man who had apparently been dead at least two years were discovered Friday by two hikers on Conejo Mountain south of Camarillo Springs Road, authorities said.
The hikers found the human bones along a rugged path on the north side of the mountain, then hiked down and called police about 3 p.m., said Deputy Coroner Dale Zentzis.
Zentzis and other investigators arrived at the mountain path about 4 p.m., giving them only an hour to search the area before nightfall, he said.
Although investigators found only part of the skeleton, they were able to determine that the person was male, he said.
“Whoever it is has been dead for two or three years. All we got is bones,” he said.
Zentzis said investigators planned to resume their search for other remains early today.
