Ex-Bishop Pleads Not Guilty to Rapes in Canada

VANCOUVER, Canada — A former Roman Catholic bishop pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he raped two native Indian women and indecently assaulted two others.
Hubert Patrick O’Connor, 64, resigned last year as bishop of Prince George in central British Columbia shortly after the charges were brought. He is the highest-ranking Catholic official ever to be charged with sex crimes in Canada.
