Beau LeBreton

College: Saddleback
Sport: Football
Position: Safety
Class: Sophomore
LeBreton was a standout defensive end at Mission Viejo High, but at 6 feet, 195 pounds, he was considered too small to play the same position at Saddleback.
So he switched to safety. This season, he and Jeremy Brion, formed one of the most punishing combinations in the state.
As the season progressed, LeBreton showed he was also skilled at pass coverage. He had a key interception in the end zone as Saddleback beat Riverside, 24-6, to clinch the Mission Conference Central Division title this season.
But LeBreton was at his best when Saddleback beat City College of San Francisco, 24-12, Saturday to win the J.C. Grid-Wire national championship. LeBreton had two interceptions and was in on 10 tackles. Each of his interceptions set up Saddleback touchdowns.
Other top performers:
Mike Bolster, who won the heavyweight division for Golden West at the Southern California wrestling tournament.
Brian Burgass, who won the 134-pound division for Rancho Santiago at the Southern California wrestling tournament. It was the second consecutive year he has won his weight class at the tournament.
Gary Gibbs, who was the most valuable player as Cypress won the Harrah’s Laughlin Tournament. Gibbs, a sophomore guard, averaged 12 points, four rebounds and three assists.
