EAST LANSING, Mich. — A snowball fight on the Michigan State University campus involving hundreds of students left at least seven people injured, including one who was knocked unconscious, authorities said.
The students began hurling snowballs Thursday evening, breaking car windows and damaging some buildings. About 30 East Lansing and Michigan State University police officers were sent in initially, but both departments called in additional officers to help control the situation. At least seven arrests were reported.
“The problem is, it’s mobile,” East Lansing Police Capt. Steve Chubb said. “You move someone from one spot, they just go to another.”
Students said it is a tradition to have a huge snowball fight on the first big snowfall of winter.
