Woman Slain, Friend Shot at Nightclub

A 20-year-old San Diego woman was shot to death and her companion critically injured early Saturday morning while at a Mission Valley nightclub, police said.
The women were either getting into or out of their orange Volkswagen Beetle in the parking lot of Maxi’s Nightclub around 1:45 a.m., witnesses told police, when two young men walked up to the car and fired into the vehicle.
Police said both women suffered bullet wounds in the head. The woman in the driver’s seat died at the scene while an 18-year-old woman was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was in critical condition Saturday evening, hospital officials said.
No suspects were identified, police said, and the motive in the shooting was unclear.
Witnesses told police they last saw the two men running east on Camino Del Rio South.
