I have nothing but admiration for Simpson and her work.
I must comment, though, on her words, “They have to feel they are worthy of something, because today I don’t think ethnic minorities feel that way . . . . “
If the phrase ethnic minority were not applied to various individuals and groups, people wouldn’t develop a self-concept of being less or different or unworthy. It is the constant labeling of people as something different from the society in which they live that engenders poor self-concept and an attitude of being inferior.
