ORANGE : Survival Kits Are Available at YMCA

Putting together an emergency survival kit and don’t know where to start? Look no further than the YMCA.

The Orange chapter of the YMCA is selling survival packages to raise $6,000 for the organization’s extensive scholarship programs.

“We maintain a policy that no one is turned away for lack of funds,” said Jennifer Rhynes, director of the Orange YMCA. “But we need funds.”

The kits contain food, water, first-aid materials, blankets and flashlights and are designed to help people survive a period without basic services following an earthquake or flood.

The smallest emergency kit is designed to aid one person for one day and costs $19.95. A second kit costs $29.99 and contains enough water to get one person through three days without other supplies.

The most expensive kit costs $47.99 and contains more than 100 items to help two people survive on their own for three days.
