Ventura County Public Health Services has added two sites for its free AIDS antibody tests.
AIDS Project coordinator Diane Seyl said the new sites at Oxnard College and the Conejo Free Clinic bring to six the number of sites operating throughout the county.
“The blood test will tell you if you have been infected with HIV, the AIDS virus,” she said. “It is not a test for AIDS.”
Pre- and post-test counseling is also provided, whether the test is positive or negative, Seyl said. All test results and counseling are administered in confidential personal interviews, she added.
Anyone wishing to have the test should make an appointment by calling:
* Oxnard College, 986-5823.
* Conejo Free Clinic, 497-3575.
* Ventura Public Health Center, 652-5928.
* Oxnard Public Health Center, 385-8647.
* Simi Multi-Service Center, 584-4887.
* Santa Paula Health Center, 933-8450.
The centers tested more than 3,000 people between July 1, 1991, and June 30, 1992, with fewer than 1% testing positive, Seyl said.
