Academy Symposium of Foreign Film Nominees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hold its annual Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the academy’s headquarters, 8949 Wilshire Blvd.
It will include a discussion among the directors of this year’s nominated films, questions from the audience and a screening of a clip from each film.
Participating are Stijn Coninx, director/co-writer of Belgium’s “Daens”; Regis Wargnier, director/co-writer of France’s “Indochine”; Helmut Dietl, director/co-producer/co-writer of Germany’s “Schtonk,” and Nikita Mikhalkov, director/co-writer of Russia’s “Close to Eden.” Moderator will be director George Schaefer.
