Interim Parking Lot at Development Site?

The site of the future Sunshine Pacific Center project of condominiums and commercial space may be temporarily used as a parking lot.
Construction of the 300 residential units and 185,000 square feet of commercial space was to begin at Second Street and Central Avenue this fall. But the limited partner and general partner are switching positions and have asked the Community Redevelopment Agency for a 17-month extension while the internal restructuring is worked out.
Gloria Uchida, Little Tokyo Redevelopment Project manager, said the company will be required to landscape the property to make the site more attractive in the interim.
Brian Murphy, project manager, said the developers are also studying the idea of providing parking on the site to bring in some revenue. The property can probably accommodate about 300 vehicles, Murphy said.
