Students from San Gabriel Valley area high schools were among the winners in the High School MESA Day math and science competitions March 27 at Cal Poly Pomona. MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) is a statewide program that helps minority students attain math-based degrees.
The event drew more than 800 African-American, Latino and American Indian students from throughout the Southland who competed in action-oriented math and science activities.
