LOS ANGELES : Sheraton-Town House Wins Monument Status
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council, reversing a decision by the Cultural Heritage Commission, granted monument status Wednesday to the Sheraton-Town House in an attempt to salvage the once-posh hostelry.
The Tokyo-based owners of the Town House have expressed interest in razing the 63-year-old hotel.
The council’s action requires any application for a demolition permit to come before the commission. The panel could grant a six-month grace period to allow preservationists and owners to strike a deal.
