A North Hills teen-ager is expected to be arraigned in Van Nuys Superior Court today on charges of sexually assaulting two girls and a woman in an abduction and a home invasion that took place only hours apart.
Brandon R. Barnes, 17, has already been ordered to stand trial as an adult on 16 felony counts--including two that carry potential life sentences.
He is charged with victimizing four neighborhood girls and later a couple in a nearby apartment Nov. 16. According to testimony given at a preliminary hearing last month, Barnes approached four girls, ages 16, 11, 5 and 2, as they walked home from a restaurant.
After trying to rob them with a handgun, he allegedly sexually assaulted the two older girls.
About two hours later, according to other testimony at the hearing, Barnes broke into a Parthenia Street apartment, bound a man and raped a woman at gunpoint while threatening to shoot her 2-year-old child.
