After a Loss, Rupp Not at a Loss for Words

In his April 2 column, Larry Stewart recalls one of the first NCAA tournament games that Billy Packer worked, the Kentucky-Marquette game in 1975.
A few years previously, the same teams met in a regional game at Madison, Wis. Marquette won. Kentucky Coach Adolph Rupp was interviewed after the game and the reporter commented, “Marquette did a good job in keeping the ball away from Dan Issel.”
Rupp responded: “Oh, our fellows did a good job in keeping the ball away from him, too.”
