SANTA ANA — Two men who apparently had been sitting on a third-floor balcony railing fell to the ground and suffered serious head injuries Saturday night, police said.
Salvador Lemus of Thousand Oaks and Ruperto Nunez of Santa Ana were found next to a fence at Nunez’s apartment at 336 E. Walnut St. about 7 p.m., police said.
The men, who were attending a party, went to the balcony to talk and “when they weren’t seen for a while, their friends went out to check and heard moaning from the ground,” Police Sgt. Roger Scharf said.
Lemus was flown to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo and Nunez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where both remained in critical condition Sunday, police said.
