4 Michigan Prison Workers Stabbed

JACKSON, Mich. — Four staff members at the State Prison of Southern Michigan were stabbed Monday in the yard outside a maximum-security cellblock.
The staff members, who were not immediately identified, were taken by ambulance to Foote Hospital in Jackson.
Prison officials would not describe the victims’ jobs or say how the stabbings occurred or how serious the injuries were. They said taking victims to the hospital was routine, no matter how serious the wounds.
Inmates were being locked in their cells after the stabbings.
The attack was the second in eight days. Two guards received minor injuries in a stabbing in a disciplinary unit April 4.
