Borden Recalls Clam Chowder: The Columbus, Ohio, food manufacturer issued a recall in five Western states on certain cans of its Snow’s brand New England clam chowder. Borden Inc. said it warned consumers in California, Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico and Nevada not to use 15-ounce cans stamped on top with a FEB 94 or MAR 94 production code and a second identifying line that ends in “C”. Borden said it learned that one independently operated California warehouse did not fully comply with a 1991 recall of that code. Some of the soup could have been under-processed, resulting in a non-sterile product. A small quantity of the canned soup was recently shipped to customers.
