COSTA MESA — Activists from the Orange County People for Animals will stage demonstrations in front of McDonald’s restaurants this morning against the consumption of beef, joining thousands simultaneously demonstrating at about 3,000 other McDonald’s outlets across the nation, the group announced.
The starting point rally is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at an outlet at 3801 S. Bristol St., just north of South Coast Plaza, spokeswoman Ava Park said.
About an hour after that, teams of protesters will go to 40 other McDonald’s restaurants throughout the county.
Demonstrators will encourage McDonald’s franchises to offer vegetarian meals and non-meat alternatives for hamburgers, group officials said.
