Not for a Boycott

I am writing in regard to Jane Galbraith’s article “ ‘Indecent’ Debate Fuels Box Office” (May 1). I did participate in a panel discussion in which that movie, along with many others, was discussed. However, I most certainly did not make the preposterous statement that I was “boycotting theaters showing the movie,” as Galbraith states. Nor did I encourage others to do the same. I did suggest that paying to see a movie is in effect voting for it and that if you found the premise or content of a given film offensive, you could choose to vote no, by not seeing the film. This idea is a far cry from the extreme point of view attributed to me by Galbraith.
