Wilson’s Popularity Dips to Historic Low

SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Pete Wilson’s popularity has hit a historic low with Californians giving him the lowest job performance rating of any governor in the past 30 years, according to a Field Poll released Thursday.
Only 15% of those responding to the poll said Wilson is doing a good to excellent job leading the state. Thirty-six percent rated his job performance as fair and 42% said Wilson was doing a poor to very poor job, according to the poll. The survey was conducted May 14-22 among a random sample of 994 California adults.
