VADUZ : A Royal Respite

The tiny principality of Liechenstein will give Europe a chance to forget about the troubles of other royal families next weekend when Crown Prince Alois, 25, is married to Duchess Sophie of Bavaria.
Saturday’s wedding in the royal castle will highlight a three-day feast to be attended by royalty from all over Europe, including Britain’s Prince Charles, and to be televised live across the Continent. Liechenstein, whose 28,000 citizens are wedged between Switzerland and Austria, is already linked to Bavaria; Prince Alois’ mother was a Bavarian countess.
Duchess Sophie, also 25, is the great-granddaughter of Bavaria’s last ruling king, overthrown in 1918.
