Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Goat Head Found at Mall

PALMDALE — A goat head and two sets of chicken feet found in a fountain outside a mall were left simply as a prank and are not connected to satanic rituals, officials say.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Denham of the Antelope Valley station said the animal parts were found about 7 a.m. Thursday by maintenance workers in the fountain outside the main entrance to the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale.
About the same time the animal parts were found, a local media outlet received an anonymous tip about them.
“There’s no evidence of any other kind of ritualistic killings,” Denham said. “It appears to be a prank.”
Denham said it looks as though the animals were butchered since the cuts were clean.
The manager at the Los Angeles County animal care & control office in Lancaster said there have not been any recent reports of missing goats.
An investigation into the incident is pending, said Denham, noting this is the first time something like this has occurred at the mall, which opened in September, 1991.
