British scientists said they are convinced that bones unearthed in eastern Russia are those of the last czar, his wife and three of their children. Members of the imperial family, the Romanovs, were executed under orders from Soviet founder V. I. Lenin in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution, historians say. In a pioneering technique, experts used blood from living relatives, including Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, to identify the skeletons of Czar Nicholas II, Alexandra and their three eldest children.
