Columbia Pictures Sues Cable TV Operators: Columbia Pictures and seven other Hollywood studios filed lawsuits against local cable TV operators across the country in an effort to collect interest on late royalty payments. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Wilmington, Del., and at other federal courts nationwide, seeks to recover delinquent royalties for movies that are broadcast by independent TV stations, such as Ted Turner’s “superstation” WTBS and smaller local stations, and which are carried to a wider audience via cable TV operators.
