Cecilia Parker; Portrayed Andy Hardy’s Sister

Cecilia Parker, 79, actress who played Mickey Rooney’s sister Marian in the “Andy Hardy” films. A native of Ft. William, Ontario, Miss Parker moved to Los Angeles as a child and became a contract player at MGM when she was 16. Realizing a childhood dream, she was chosen to perform with Greta Garbo as the famous actress’ sister in “The Painted Veil.” Miss Parker went on to appear as Marion Hardy in 11 of the 16 “Andy Hardy” movies made in the 1930s and 1940s. Her other films included “Young as You Feel,” “High School Girl” and “Ah Wilderness!” Miss Parker, who married actor and realty agent Robert Baldwin Sr. in 1938 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1940, lived in Ventura after her retirement from the screen.
