Washington 14, Manual Arts 7--A 51-yard fumble return by defensive lineman Doniel Webster was the difference for Washington in a nonleague game at Manual Arts.
The Generals took a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter when quarterback Chris Johnson scored from the three-yard line after a 27-yard punt return by Jim McElroy.
Washington began the third quarter with an impressive drive, led by running back Dartanyum Smith’s runs of 10 and 20 yards. Faced with a third-and-goal, Gutierrez scored from the 13 on a bootleg that capped a 65-yard drive, cutting the deficit to 14-7.
