Pasadena : City Adopts Green Charter
The city has adopted an environmental charter which, in effect, pledges allegiance to the green flag of efficient public transportation, energy and water conservation, recycling and the preservation of open spaces and natural habitats.
In approving the charter that says Pasadena should be “a leader in environmental compliance and protection,” city officials declared that “an environmental ethic need not interfere with economic development.”
Charles Thomas, the city’s environmental affairs coordinator, said: “Our charter will be held as a model for others as the key to the future of healthy, sustainable cities.”
