Montclair Prep 34, St. Joseph 20--Wilbert Smith rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns and added a 79-yard kickoff return to lead the Mounties (3-0) past the Southern Section’s top ranked Division IX team in Santa Maria.
Smith, who finished with 304 all-purpose yards to give him 11 touchdowns and more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in three games, sealed the victory midway through the fourth quarter with a 61-yard scoring run and two-point conversion run.
The touchdown came moments after the defending Los Padres League champion Knights (2-1) cut the margin to 26-20.
