In South Coast League volleyball:
Mater Dei 3, Dana Hills 2--Roberta Gehlke had 28 kills and Allison Stricklin added 55 assists for Mater Dei (4-0, 1-0) in a 12-15, 15-10, 15-6, 11-15, 15-11 victory.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 3, Fountain Valley 1--Tina Daly had 14 kills for Edison (5-2, 4-1), which won, 15-7, 15-7, 11-15, 15-3. Daly also had 17 digs and two aces and Jennifer Porterfield added 12 kills and six blocks for the Chargers.
Huntington Beach 3, Ocean View 2--Melissa Wendt had 21 kills for Huntington Beach (5-4, 4-1), which won, 17-15, 12-15, 15-4, 13-15, 15-3.
In the Century League:
Villa Park 3, El Modena 2--Bonnie Ogilvie had 18 kills and Shannon Coykendall had 40 assists as Villa Park (6-1, 1-0) won, 13-15, 15-11, 7-15, 15-9, 15-3.
In the Garden Grove League:
Santiago 3, Garden Grove 1--Jennifer Morris had 20 kills for visiting Santiago, which won, 15-13, 15-11, 12-15, 15-6.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 3, Estancia 2--Amy Steele had 40 kills and Misty Thompson had 35 assists for Laguna Hills (5-2, 1-0), which won, 15-9, 15-13, 11-15, 4-15, 15-5.
In Sea View League girls’ tennis:
Newport Harbor 9, Corona del Mar 9 (Newport Harbor wins on games, 79-75)--Mara Colaizzi won her singles sets, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, to lead Newport Harbor (9-0, 6-0), top-ranked in the county, over the No. 3 Sea Kings (7-1, 6-1). Jenny Glasgow and Kristine Winton swept their doubles sets in the 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 loss.
The match came down to two doubles sets won by the Sailors’ Lindsay Olson and Vanessa Godbey, 7-5, and Kim Lewis and Genevieve Evarts, 6-3.
