Under a new local program, employers can send workers to learn new skills in using computers, supervising others, customer service or quality management at no cost.
It is part of the Orange County Jobs Saving Alliance, a coalition that consists of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, the Minority Business Council of Orange County and United Education Institute.
The classes last 18 weeks. Employees must attend three-hour classes at United Education Institute in Santa Ana two days or evenings a week.
The classes are: Office Automation/Word Processing; Supervision/Management Skills; Customer Service/Business Communications; Total Quality Management.
Employers who pay into the state unemployment insurance fund are eligible.
For more information, contact the Alliance at 1212 W. 17th St., Santa Ana, Calif. 92706, or call (800) 487-7777.
