Newport Harbor 16, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 2--Singles players Mara Colaizzi and Sarah Hawkins didn’t lose a game as the second-seeded Sailors (19-2) advanced to the second round. Mira Costa ends 11-10.
Dana Hills 14, Woodbridge 4--No. 1 singles player Elizabeth Stevens of Dana Hills defeated Natalie Exon, who only had four losses this season, 6-4. Stevens won her other sets 6-0, 6-1. Dana Hills (18-2) will play San Marcos in the second round Tuesday.
In Division II:
Edison 16, Trabuco Hills 2--Kelly Foster swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, and Brooke Lacey did the same at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, for host Edison (18-2), which advances to play Villa Park Saturday.
Marina 11, North Torrance 7--Marina, the third-place team from the Sunset League, upset host North Torrance, which won the Pioneer League. Holly Meyers swept, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1, for Marina (11-10). North Torrance ends 16-3.
Estancia 12, Canyon 6--Whitney Gilliam won at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-4, 6-0, for host Estancia (11-8).
El Modena 13, Victor Valley 5--Holli Freudenberg swept at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for El Modena.
Laguna Beach 18, Rowland 0--Doubles teams Sarah Cohen and Ashlie Gravley and Stacy Feybold and Heather Holmes did not lose a game as top-seeded Laguna Beach (18-3) ousted Rowland (12-9). The Artists advance to play Rosary in the second round Saturday.
Rosary 11, Alhambra Keppel 7--Cheryl Hamilton swept her opponents, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, and the doubles team of Colleen Coady and Patti Mein swept theirs, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1, for Rosary (16-5).
In Division III:
El Dorado 17, Long Beach Wilson 1--Linda and Susan Surapruik swept their sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3, and 6-3, 6-1, 6-3, for El Dorado (14-5), which plays Temecula Valley Saturday.
Sunny Hills 15, Hacienda Heights Wilson 3--Dana Rudolph swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for host Sunny Hills (14-5). Barbie Bayless also swept at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1. Sunny Hills’ No. 1 doubles team of Jenne Lee and Renee Zew won, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Lancers play Corona Saturday.
Los Alamitos 18, Newhall Hart 0--Empire League doubles champions Veronica Selby and Michelle Schneider swept in No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Los Alamitos (14-3) plays Long Beach Poly Saturday.
In Division IV:
La Quinta 16, San Bernardino 2--Lynn Wu swept in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for La Quinta. Teammates Janis Hellie and Melissa Frank won their No. 1 double sets, 7-6, 6-1, 6-1, for the Aztecs, who play top-seeded Chadwick Saturday.
Savanna 13, San Jacinto 5--Kathy Kuragami swept at singles, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, for host Savanna (14-4).
Valencia 17, Rosemead 1--Jenny Gonzalez and Renee Williams swept their sets without losing a game. Valencia plays San Gorgonio Saturday.
In Division V:
Orange Lutheran 11, Romona Convent 7--Elizabeth Larson swept her sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, and the doubles team of Michelle Fry and Jessica Ming won, 6-0, 7-5, 6-0. Orange Lutheran plays fourth-seeded Brentwood Saturday.
