COSTA MESA — Edison’s Michael Graham rushed for 90 yards in 20 carries as Edison scored a 17-8 Sunset League victory over Servite Thursday night at Orange Coast College.
Graham was stifled by Servite’s hard-hitting defense in the first half, gaining only 17 yards in 11 carries. But on Edison’s first play of the second half, Graham burst through the middle, cut to the left sideline, and ran 57 yards for a touchdown to give Edison (8-2, 6-1) a 14-0 lead.
Edison had taken a 7-0 lead on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Todd Belitz to Chris Young, capping a 10-play, 69-yard drive on the Chargers’ opening possession.
Servite scored its touchdown with 2 minutes 9 seconds remaining in the game, on a five-yard run by Frank Patti.
“Servite’s a good team,” Graham said. “They did a good job on me in the first half, but this is the best offensive line I’ve run behind, and it showed in the second half.”
Belitz completed only six of 19 passes for 125 yards and two interceptions.
