OUTLOOK
Anderson says he probably will start five guards, none of them are taller than 6 feet 1. But that hasn’t diminished the coach’s enthusiasm for this season. He’s picking his team third, behind Pacifica and Kennedy. “We’ll be a lot better shooting team than last year’s,” Anderson said. “We’ll full-court press and run a lot. We had a decent summer, so I would expect less turnovers and fewer mistakes.” Anderson is expecting big things from Johnson, who transferred from Santa Ana Valley a year ago but had to play junior varsity last season because of the transfer rule. “He should be one of our top scorers this season,” Anderson said. “He would have played varsity last season had he been eligible.” Wiemen didn’t play much this summer, but Anderson said he’s been playing well in practice and could sneak into the starting lineup. “He’s really been impressive in practice, but you never know what’s going to happen once the games start,” he said. Anderson also likes what he’s seen of Elcock. “He plays my style of basketball, real aggressive and he won’t quit for nothing.”
