California offensive tackle Todd Steussie and defensive tackle D’Marco Farr of Washington were named winners of the Pacific 10 Conference’s Morris Trophy on Thursday.
Steussie, a 305-pound senior from Agoura High, was the first Bear to win the trophy, an award in which the starting offensive linemen vote for the defensive winner and vice versa.
A four-year starter at Cal, Steussie started 46 games, most of any player in school history. Farr is a 265-pound senior from San Pablo, Calif.
High Schools
Three transfers from Faith Baptist High must wait until next week to learn if they will be granted athletic eligibility at their respective City Section schools.
The financial hardship petitions of baseball players Chad Evanson, Mike Jimenez and Gary Marcus were tabled by the City rules committee.
Girls’ Basketball
Lisa Magorien returns as girls’ basketball coach at Chaminade High after a one-year maternity leave. Magorien, entering her fourth season as coach, led Chaminade to the Southern Section Division IV-AA semifinals in 1990.
