In nonleague girls’ soccer:

Edison 2, Capistrano Valley 1--Jennifer Balch and Brandi Sullivan scored in the second half to help Edison, ranked third in Orange County, defeat the No. 2 Cougars.

After a scoreless first half, Balch and Sullivan each scored after corner kicks by Erin Bailey--Balch on a header 10 minutes into the half and Sullivan five minutes later.

Lindsay Light scored with 15 minutes left in the game for Capistrano Valley (3-1-1). Edison is 7-0-1.

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

University 5, Century 3--Jeff Nichols scored all five goals, setting a school single-game scoring record, for University, which won for the first time since 1991.
