Teacher Sentenced in Rape of 6 Pupils

NANTERRE, France — A schoolteacher has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping six 6-year-old pupils during 1985-86, court officials said Wednesday.
The case against Guy Provaux, 57, took so long coming to trial because the victims for years were too scared to speak, prosecutors said. Victims testifying in the trial, which ended Tuesday, said Provaux had threatened to kill their parents with a pistol he kept in his desk if they told anyone.
