Summery temperatures broke a 101-year-old record Sunday as the weather brought thousands of Southland residents to the beaches, and tantalized visiting Wisconsin football fans as they boarded planes for home.
A high-pressure system pushed the temperature to 84 degrees at 2 p.m. at the Civic Center. That was one degree higher than the Jan. 2 record set in 1893, according to the National Weather Service.
In Glendale, it hit 87 degrees, the warmest in the region.
