Ticket Brokers

* To malign the entire ticket brokerage industry for this year’s Rose Bowl debacle is hugely unfair (editorial, Jan. 1). It is true that some ticket agencies made promises that they were unable or unwilling to keep. The people who bought their seats through these agencies have every right to be very upset, particularly if they made the trip from Wisconsin.
There were, however, several ticket agencies that lost a great deal of money ensuring that their obligations were met. Losing money is part of any speculative venture, which ticket brokering certainly is.
Ticket brokers are not inherently evil. There are people, businesses and even ticket brokers that are willing to lose money is order to keep their word.
