Teddy Jane Binion, 77, matriarch of the Nevada gaming family that founded Las Vegas’ Horseshoe Club. Mrs. Binion was the widow of Las Vegas pioneer Lester (Benny) Binion who died in 1989. The Binions moved to Las Vegas from Texas in 1946 and five years later bought the old El Dorado casino, renaming it the Horseshoe Club. The casino occupies a square block in the Glitter Gulch section of downtown Las Vegas, a no-frills gambling area away from the more glamorous Strip. Mrs. Binion remained active in the family-run business. On Monday in Las Vegas after a stroke.
