A new bus line between Los Angeles International Airport and Downtown Los Angeles started Monday, officials said.
Line 646, which will operate every 20 minutes in both directions, was created to help improve public transportation after the Northridge earthquake.
The route begins at the City Bus Center at the airport, then goes along Sepulveda Boulevard and Imperial Highway before stopping at the parking lot for the future Green Line Aviation station near Aviation Boulevard and 116th Street. Buses continue nonstop on the Century and the Harbor freeways to Downtown, where they will stop along Flower and Figueroa streets until reaching Union Station.
One-way fare is $1.50. Metrolink pass-holders pay 40 cents.
