Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Drivers Urged to Avoid 2 Busy Intersections

ANTELOPE VALLEY — Sheriff’s deputies urged motorists Wednesday to avoid two busy Antelope Valley intersections because of major roadwork.
Deputies said paving work at the intersection of Avenue K and Sierra Highway in Lancaster, continuing through 7 p.m. today, will cause traffic delays of up to 30 minutes. They recommended that drivers use 10th Street West, Division Street and Avenue I as alternate routes.
Avenue J should not be used as a detour, deputies said, because construction work is taking place along that street between Division Street and Sierra Highway.
In Palmdale, the construction of new Metrolink rails will force the closure of Palmdale Boulevard between Sierra Highway and 6th Street East, from 8 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Monday. Palmdale Boulevard drivers will be diverted north and south along Sierra Highway and 6th Street East during this period.
