Johnson, Riley to Coach Final Conference Games

Cypress’ Don Johnson and Fullerton’s Colleen Riley will coach their final regular-season games tonight. Both are retiring after the season.
Johnson, the state’s winningest community college men’s basketball coach, takes his Chargers to Riverside for a 7 p.m. Orange Empire Conference game. Cypress (15-17, 6-7) has won four in a row. Riverside (25-6, 11-2) is tied for first with Saddleback.
Saddleback (21-7, 11-2) goes against Irvine Valley (17-14, 5-8) at Capistrano Valley High at 8 p.m.
Riley, the state’s winningest community college women’s basketball coach, and Fullerton (19-13, 7-4) can clinch at least a tie for second with a victory over first-place Golden West (28-4, 10-1). The 7 p.m. game is at Fullerton.
The women’s Southern California playoff pairings will be announced Sunday and the men’s on Tuesday.
