MOORPARK : Rusted Pipe Bomb Found Next to Home
- Share via
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a pipe bomb found next to a Moorpark home that they believe was knocked off the roof while the house was being fumigated.
The device was found about 5 p.m. Wednesday between a house and detached garage in the 4200 block of Hitch Boulevard in Moorpark. It was retrieved by a member of the county bomb squad and disposed of at Camarillo Airport.
Detective Joe Braga said it appeared that the bomb fizzled out after someone lit the fuse months ago, although it was still capable of exploding.
Because of the rust on the pipe, Braga said he believed that the device sat on the roof for several months before it was knocked off by a tent placed atop the house for fumigation. Investigators have no suspects and no motive.
