SYLMAR — An 18-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday after he was shot during an argument that erupted at a Sylmar residence, authorities said.
Los Angeles police arrested a 25-year-old Los Angeles man on suspicion of attempted murder. Authorities refused to name the alleged shooter.
The victim, Randy Cooper, also of Los Angeles, was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills after the 9:40 p.m. shooting Friday.
Cooper and the suspect were among a group of young men and women who had gathered at a residence in the 14100 block of Foothill Boulevard, Lt. Joseph Garcia of the LAPD’s Foothill Division said.
Cooper was shot in the upper body after he and the suspect argued. Police said they do not know why the two argued.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and the gun used in the shooting was recovered, authorities said.
