Where--Anaheim Arena.
Alemany (30-0)--Alemany is the No. 2-seeded team. The Indians won in the first round, 63-53, over Escondido and in the semifinals, 68-51, over San Diego Mission Bay. Alemany defeated San Bernardino, 49-46, in the Southern Section Division II-A final. Alemany won the division title in 1992 and has won six league titles in the last seven seasons.
Woodbridge (31-0)--Woodbridge is seeded No. 1. The Warriors won in the first round, 71-41, over Bakersfield East and in the semifinals, 84-63, over San Bernardino. Woodbridge defeated Hemet, 59-47, in the Division II-AA final. Woodbridge won the Southern Section II-A title in 1991 and has won nine league titles in the past 11 seasons.
Key to the game--Woodbridge has a quicker backcourt, a deeper bench and has played better competition. Warrior guards Jamie Oenning and Erin Stovall are athletic and skilled shooters. If they can spark the transition game with steals, Woodbridge should be in a good position. Alemany center Carly Funicello and forward Samantha Rigley must control the game under the basket or the Indians will struggle. This game should provide more of a challenge than either team has faced in the regular season or playoffs, but Woodbridge has the edge.
