Superior Industries International Inc., a Van Nuys maker of cast aluminum wheels for the automotive industry, said it has a contract to supply wheels for BMW’s new car to be built at the German auto maker’s new plant in Spartanburg, S.C.
Superior said the value of the contract will probably exceed $15 million over three years.
BMW has not released production numbers on the new car, but Superior said industry reports have estimated initial production at 70,000 vehicles annually, later increasing to 100,000 a year. Superior said it would begin shipping wheels to BMW in June, 1995, for the 1996 model year.
