SANTA ANA — Police Tuesday identified the victim killed in a weekend shootout as a 17-year-old Santa Ana boy.
Thomas Rodriguez was shot Saturday when what police described as a deadly game of cat and mouse between two moving vehicles erupted into gunfire, according to Lt. David Nick.
A dispute between passengers in the two vehicles, which were traveling along city streets, apparently led to the shootings, police said. Rodriguez was shot in the head, and a second man, Ramon Martinez, 26, also of Santa Ana, was shot in the back, Nick said.
Police have not made it clear which cars the two shooting victims were in.
Investigators said they believe that some of those in the autos were gang members. No arrests have been made.
