DOWNTOWN : Walk Into History in 3 Neighborhoods

Developers of the Union Station and Terminal Annex Post Office redevelopment projects have produced a walking tour map to acquaint commuters and tourists to the surrounding historic neighborhoods of Olvera Street, Chinatown and Little Tokyo.
The free “Alameda North/World Walk L.A.” map guides visitors from Union Station through the neighborhoods.
Catellus Development Corp., owner and developer of the 50-acre Union Station property, and the Ratkovich Villanueva Partnership, developers of the U.S. Postal Service’s 18-acre Terminal Annex property, produced the map with input from community leaders.
Olvera Street merchant Peter Martinez said he was pleased with the way the map links the neighboring but diverse communities. He and his wife, Emily, said they hope the map will persuade commuters to return to Downtown on weekends for shopping, dining and cultural events. The map is available at Union Station, the U.S. Postal Service’s Terminal Annex site, the Olvera Street Visitor’s Center, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau.
