SIMI VALLEY : Golf Course to Get $250,000 Make-Over

A 30-year-old Simi Valley golf course that has fallen into disrepair will get a $250,000 make-over, the park district has announced.
Under an agreement with the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, a private golf company will pay for improvements at the Sinaloa Golf Course on Madera and Irvine roads in exchange for a 15-year lease, district General Manager Jerry Gladden said.
Shackelford Golf, owned by former college basketball star Lynn Shackelford, will spruce up the grounds with new landscaping, replace the course’s sprinkler system and install a net at the end of the greens to keep balls from flying into neighboring property.
Shackelford said he will also renovate the pro shop, a former gas station that needs roof repairs and a paint job.
