* Rescue the Dunes. Volunteers plant native plants to restore the ecosystem of the El Segundo Dunes, 9 a.m.-noon. Contact: (310) 394-4552, Ext. 121.
* The Annual La Cienega Earth Week Clean-Up. Starting near the Santa Monica Freeway and La Cienega (near where the freeway collapsed), volunteers will plant trees and clean up graffiti and trash, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Contact: (213) 857- 2656 or (310) 453-5205.

* The Great L.A. River Clean Up. Volunteers will clean the river habitat and learn about the impact of storm drains at Lake Balboa Park-Sepulveda Basin from 9 a.m.-noon. Contact: (310) 315-7227.

* Transforming South-Central. Meet at Crown Plaza Holiday Inn, 5985 W. Century Blvd. 9 a.m. All-day events include lunch (free) and dancing at 7 p.m. ($5). Contact: George Singleton, (213) 758-3355.
* Hahamongna Oak Grove Tree Planting and Trail Work. Oak Grove Park, Pasadena, 8:30 a.m.-noon. Re-vegetation of the Oak Grove section of Hahamongna Watershed Park by planting coast live oak trees and native plants and rebuilding trail through the park. Contact: Jim Schoedler, (818) 398-6787.
